Woodland Grange Primary School Art Exchange

Our site was visited by an English teacher in a Spanish school; C.P.Jesús Neira, Pola de Lena. She was interested in setting up a project with an English school. She was keen to give her children the opportunity to practise their English. We felt that this would be a great opportunity for us to write for a different type of audience and so replied.

We set up an art exchange. We wrote some descriptions of pictures we had drawn and emailed them to Spain. The children there read our descriptions and from these drew our pictures. They then sent their own descriptions of pictures they had drawn. We then exchanged our actual artwork by snail mail so that we could each compare our work with the originals.

Here is a copy of one of the letters we received:

Hello!. We are students of 6º course of the Public School "Jesús Neira". Our school is in Pola de Lena, a small town of Asturias. We are between 11 and 12 years. We thank you a lot that you have responded to our message. We have elaborated in class some drawings and murals that we send you description by email. I hope you like. We also send you information about our town (Pola de Lena), our town council (Lena) and our region (Asturias). We love to get art pictures from you. We wait impatient for your answer. With love on behalf of the whole class. Hearing from you soon.

P.D.: Part of the information that we send you it is in Spanish. We have tried to find it in English but it has been impossible. We hope somebody can help you to translate it.
