Woodland Grange Primary School Blogs
In
January 2002 the Woodland Wide Web added a new dimension to
its online presence....blogging. A 'weblog' or 'blog' is an
online journal or diary. The activity of updating a blog is
" blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger."
Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows
people with little or no technical background to update and
maintain the blog. Postings on a blog are almost always arranged
in chronological order with the most recent additions featured
most prominantly.
We began by creating 'class blogs' where the children, using
a browser interface developed in school, could blog the latest
news and samples of work from their class. The School Council
then set up their own blog to keep everyone up to date with
their decisions. The FOWG (our PTA) quickly requested a blog
as a way of keeping everyone infomed of their latest news
and events. Our site now contains many many blog pages run
by pupils, staff, parents and governors. The blogs are integrated
into the site's design and are not always immediately obvious.
Look for the symbol
which our bloggers click on to log into their page.
We have assisted a number of local schools with the integration
of blogs into their sites. For further information please
do contact us.
