Woodland Grange Primary School Bosworth Battlefield!

As part of our topic on Tudor life Year 3 went on a trip to Bosworth Battlefield. It was here, in 1485, that Richard III King of England was killed in battle and Henry Tudor crowned as Henry VII, the new King of England.

We had a wonderful demonstration of the weapons used and fighting techniques!
We were given mock weapons and imagined we were in the King's forces on top of Ambion Hill.
We had a Standard bearer. We had to undertake drill with our weapons. The man in charge said that we looked like Henry Tudor's soldiers because our uniforms are green and white like his men's were.
We went for a walk around the battlefield.
This is the well where King Richard took his last drink before the battle.
This stone marks the spot where Richard III was dragged from his horse and killed. Someone had left white roses there. These were his symbol.
Legend says his crown rolled into a thorn bush where it lay until it was picked up and placed on Henry Tudor's head.
We were tired after such a busy and exciting day!
