Woodland Grange Primary School Ground Force

At the end of February 2004, parents, children and staff turned out on a Saturday, under the leadership of Mrs Fisher, to help with the first phase of our grounds project.

With so much help we were able to achieve a lot in a relatively short time.

At the top of the field we dug out a pathway and planted ‘withies’ (cuttings from willow trees) in order to establish a willow walk for the children to play in.

Behind Mrs Wood’s mobile the grass was dug out and withies put in a circle in order to create an ‘igloo’ effect for quiet times.

The removed turf was sculpted into dens for wildlife in our Wildlife Area by the children.

We also planted four native species trees which over a period of time will provide shaded seating areas for the children when on the field.
